Povolzhskaya Arkheologiya (The Volga River Region Archaeology)

Povolzhskaya Arkheologiya (The Volga River Region Archaeology) is an international peer-reviewed journal of archaeology and related disciplines, founded in 2012 and edited by A.Kh. Khalikov Archaeology Institute of the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan, in cooperation with Mari El State University. Povolzhskaya Arkheologiya comes out quarterly in Russian and English. Every volume is reviewed and supplied with English and Russian abstracts. The journal is a good opportunity for a wide circle of archaeologists, historians, ethnologists and interdisciplinary researchers to participate in discussions and publish their works. The journal focuses on reconstruction and interpretation of cultural-historical processes on the vast spaces in the Volga region, the Ural and the North-Caspian region, which used to be, at times, a cross-point between Europe and Asia, not just geographically, but also culturally. These territories used to generate large-scale changes in the most remote geographic areas. A growing international attention to this exceptional macro-region of the ancient Eurasia makes the Povolzhskaya Arkheologiya journal a reputable platform, where specialists from different countries – from Finland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova to Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Mongolia – to exchange their opinions and ideas. The editors’ main goal is to ensure integration of international research efforts, early presentation of field survey findings for a scientific discussion, as well as publication of current analytical research and interpretations and assure the highest quality of publications. Timetable: March, June, September, December. Format: 168х258 mm. Each volume with 300 pages on average contains numerous illustrations, including in color. Main sections of the journal: -Research and publications. It is the main section of the journal, including authentic scientific articles featuring the topics of the journal. -Discussions. This includes discussion papers on debatable issues. -Critics and bibliography. This includes reviews, summaries, etc. -Chronicle. This includes scientific developments (reports from conferences, anniversary dedications, greetings, obituaries, etc.) These thematic sections of the journal do not narrow the scope of topics available to the contributors, because we can add more sections to cover interesting and relevant manuscripts.
