The purpose of the paper is to prove that through mediation, people in conflict can have autonomy to solve their daily disputes without the need for intervention by the judicial system. The present text begins with historical references to the practice of mediation while self-composition method of dispute resolution. It analyzes the restoration of the ontic nature of law through mediation. At this point it is analyzed the idea of creating law and legal decisions mediated by the subjects themselves and is studied the role of the mediator and the culture of litigation.
