D.V. Averkiiev was a famous playwright. His historical plays reproduce a wide panorama of Russian and European history. He was also the translated W. Shakespeare’s works «Hamlet», «Henry VI», «Sonnet 29». In a critical article «William Shakespeare. Article I» Averkiiev showed himself as an expert of European literature, engages in polemics with Gervinus, notes that the interpreter could not convey the relationship between the character of a person and his fate.
