This study aims at revealing the extent to which the Algerian school contributes to the development of the values of citizenship among young people. The study also seeks to highlight the most important mechanisms adopted by the Algerian school to strengthen the values of citizenship. The paper first defines the most important key-terms used in this investigation. Then, it explains the role of education and educational subjects in developing the values of citizenship. The paper also compares between some global models, which explore the role of education in shaping citizenship in secondary school and the Algerian experience. Finally, the paper provides some suggestions and actions that can contribute to the development of the values of citizenship among young people
