Child abuse has many forms like physical, emotional, sexual, neglect, and exploitation. Any
of these that are potentially or actually harmful to a child's health, survival, dignity and
development are abuse. In extreme cases abuse of a child can result in lethal activities and
death. Child abuse takes place in homes, schools, orphanages, residential care facilities, on
the streets, in the workplace or in the areas of conflict zone and there is every possibility that
it could prove potentially dangerous for the societies in particular and for the welfare of
whole mankind in general. A holistic and multidisciplinary approach including all the key
players should be developed to curb this social menace.
