Objective: In this study, it was aimed to determine the level of knowledge about the START (Simple
Triage and Rapid Treatment) protocol of the Izmir 112 Emergency Health Services (EHS) providers who
will perform the field triage in mass events.
Material and Methods: The sample of the study is the 112 Administrative Unit, ?zmir 112 Command
and Control Center and 112 EHS Central Station because of the high number of cases. The general survey
model, which is one of the survey model types, was used in the research. After the literature review, a
questionnaire was developed by the researcher to collect the data.
Results: According to our research; It was found that 94.8% of ?zmir 112 EHS services employees
received training on START protocol. In the level of knowledge about the START protocol, the
knowledge level of physicians higher than from other occupational groups, the level of knowledge of
master's graduates was higher than that of high school graduates, and the level of knowledge of 112
administrative unit employees was significantly higher than that of 112 EHS station employees.
Conclusion: According to the results of the research, in the level of knowledge of the 112 EHS providers
in Izmir about the START protocol; significant differences have been identified depending on the
education they received, their profession, the unit they work for and the training they received.
