THE EFFECTS OF WORKING POSTURE ON MUSCULOSKELETAL DISORDERS AND MODEL APPLICATION

Despite technological developments, manpower is still needed in some industries. One of these branches is the textile sector, with increasing competition conditions, inappropriate working postures in this sector, frequent, repetitive and continuous works cause musculoskeletal disorders. Ergonomics science, which aims to make the job and workplace conditions suitable for the employees, is also an important tool for the prevention of the diseases. With ergonomic work and improvements in the work places, it is possible to reduce work accidents and occupational diseases and to increase the quality and efficiency in production. This study was carried out in the quilts manufacturing department of a company operating in the textile sector. In order to evaluate the risks that may cause musculoskeletal disorders, ergonomic risk assessment was performed with the help of Sue-Rodgers Form in all employees in the production of quilts. After these analyzes, quilt stitching and quality control processes mostly included medium and low risks, while the risk levels of folding and packaging operations were found to be medium and higher. Remedial recommendations for reducing the identified high-risk groups are presented.
