It is thought that music education has an important effect on the learning life of all individuals, as well as individuals who need special education have a positive effect on learning in their education life. However, the candidates of music teachers who are eligible to be appointed as graduates of music teaching departments can appoint not only primary or secondary education institutions but also private education institutions. This causes a number of problems. For this reason, in this research, the solution was sought by trying to determine what problems faced by music teachers working in special education practice schools with mental disabilities. The aim of the research is to identify the problems faced by music teachers working in special education practice schools for the mentally disabled. It is also important in terms of offering solutions to the problems encountered. The universe of the research is music teachers who working in mentally disabled special education and practice schools. The sample is a total of 8 music teachers, 3 women and 5 men working in schools located in 8 different provinces. This research is a qualitative research. To identify the problems faced by music teachers working in mentally disabled special education practice schools, interview method, which is frequently used in qualitative research, was used. By taking the opinions of the class teachers working in special education and practice schools for the mentally disabled, a list of questions was prepared for the problems that may be encountered. Prepared questions were grouped and interview form was created. The obtained data were first transferred to the written media and then described through content analysis.The findings are interpreted and the need for music education in mentally handicapped special education and practice schools importance of creating the necessary environment for music education in mentally disabled students and music teachers working in these schools is aimed to offer suggestions for improving the problems faced by music teachers.
