RESEARCH OF THE SELF-EFFICACY PERCEPTIONS OF TEACHER CANDIDATES TOWARDS THE USAGE OF CREATIVE DRAMA METHOD

The purpose of the study is to determine pre-service teachers’ self-efficacy perceptions towards the usage of creative drama method. The study is conducted with the use of screening model with descriptive method. Study group of this research consisted of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th grade students who study Primary Education, Social Studies Education Turkish Language Teaching and Science Education programs in Nigde University at 2013-2014 academic year. Study group consisted of 1368 students. “The self-efficacy scale for the usage of creative drama method” which has been introduced by Can and Cantürk-Günhan (2009) has been used as data collection tool for the research which has the scale includes 5 point Likert scale and 47 items. Based on the results of the research, it is understood that the teacher candidates have affirmative attitudes on using the creative drama method. It is observed that there are significant differences among gender as a variable, departments and classes of the primary school education department while determining the self-efficacy perceptions on using the creative drama method. It is seen that there is a significant diffrerence among the groups’ self efficacy perceptions towards use of creative drama. The source of difference is beetween primary education and Turkish language education preservice teachers, besides between primary school education and science education preservice teachers in favor of primary education pre-service teachers.
