Due to its geographical location and climatic conditions, various peoples settled in Anatolia from the dawn on. Ancestors of Turks or their relatives also came to Anatolia. Among the earliest peoples living in Anatolia and around, we can count the Sumerians, Subarians, Guti, Elamites, Kassi, Hurrians, Hattians and Urartians. After them, Cimmerians, Scythians and Siraks came in another wave of migration. Turkic connection of the latter group was attested with archaeological and philological evidences. It was revealed that their languages, beliefs, traditions and customs, and arts are related to the later Turkic peoples. Their presence in Anatolia was recorded in written sources, as well as displayed by archaeological surveys, which indicate how much they stayed in Anatolia, where they spread and what kind of relics left. New archaeological studies in Anatolia would certainly provide new material for the topic and their systematic analysis together with the written sources would reveal more about Turkic presence and relics in ancient Anatolia. In order to increase our knowledge and to strengthen the thesis, however, we need new and more archaeological expeditions and surface studies, and then we should combine the data derived from material culture with those in sources.
