The article analyzes the recent experience of the governmental Programs of Agricultural Electrification in the rural areas, having for base a study carried out in the count of Arroio Grande, in the south extremity of the Rio Grande Do Sul state. The universalization of the access to the electric energy is seen as basic element for the development, not only because the question of the promotion to the farming activities, but over all in face of the new vocations that are being attributed to the agricultural spaces.
