The economic evaluation of the preventive chemical control of the initial
tobacco pests was studied in five tests at tobacco region, at central area of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in crop season 2000/01. The registered dosages of the studied insecticides presented the best economic yields. The tested
sub-dosages of this insecticides presented the less economic results. It was
verified that there has not influence of spraying form and the registered dosages presented the best control and the greatest yields.
