Keragaman Jenis Kodok Pegunungan Mekongga, Sulawesi Tenggara, Indonesia, dan Catatan Suara Sebagai Pembeda Jenis

Frog species diversity of Mekongga Mountains, Southeast Sulawesi has never been published yet. Results of biodiversity exploration in 2010 and 2011 found 18 species of frog along the mountain at elevation 400 m to 2500 m asl. Of 18 frog species, seven are valid species, while 11 species are still in the process of description. Seventeen species endemic to Sulawesi and only one species is not endemic, it is Kaloula baleata; six species have wide distribution, they are Ingerophrynus celebensis, Oreophryne variabilis, Hylarana mocquardii, Occodozyga semipalmata, Polypedates iskandari and Rhacophorus edentulus; while most of the species that have been described were also found in central part of Sulawesi. Oreophryne sp. which found on elevation 2500 m ASL is the only one endemic species to Mekongga Mountains. Along elevation 400 m to 2500 m ASL, the elevation on 400 m asl and elevation 900-1000 m asl have the highest diversity of frog species, where reached 9 species. We report the characetristic of frog sound along the mountain tract. Moreover, the sounds characteristic of two endemic species, i.e. Oreophryne spp. and Ingerophrynus celebensis are the novelties of this study.
