Given the increasing significance of animal ethics and animal welfare education, the following article discusses Peter Singer’s utilitarianism as applied to nonhuman animals. Taking into consideration some of its most significant concepts as a moral philosophy theory, it makes an attempt at analysing its major principles and providing a concise outline of some of its most widely discussed strengths and weaknesses within the framework of animal ethics education.
