Three-dimensional Finite Element Analysis of the Hydraulic-fracturing Process

For the most part today, advances in hydraulic fracturing are made using experimental, empirical and trial-and-error approaches. With many industries having benefited from the use of modern computational techniques, it is hoped that similar benefits can be obtained in oil and natural gas extraction from deep-seated reservoirs. The present work provides a full three-dimensional finite-element analysis of the main stages accompanying hydraulic-fracturing-stimulated fuel extraction from such reservoirs.
