Abstract
Introduction:
Quality performance and employee satisfaction is the main issue of professional ethic in the clinics. The effectiveness of the role and functions of managers is the key to success in achieving objectives. The aim of this study was to assess the correlation between directional performance head nurses and job satisfaction of nurses working in hospitals of Qom University of Medical Sciences.
Materials and Methods:
This is a descriptive – correlation study. All nurses (N=202) in teaching hospitals of Qom in 2014 were selected by consensus method. Data was collected through job satisfaction questionnaire (20 items) and researcher making questionnaire (directional performance head nurses) that valid and reliable by alpha – Cronbach = 0.96. Data analysis was done by descriptive and analytical statistics and used software SPSS: 21.
Results:
Nurses (%53.5) believed that head nurses have optimal performance in the implementation of the guidance. The more nurses (%66.8) demonstrate moderate level of job satisfaction. There was a significant relationship between a job satisfaction and nurses’ perceptions of head nurses’ directional performance (P<0.001).
Conclusion:
Head nurse's performance in directional role playing as a professional and ethical action has a significant relationship with job satisfaction, hence empower of managers in directional performance is necessary.
