Green chemistry is not an emerging trend but a reality owing to its
applications. Green chemistry is a chemical philosophy, encouraging the design of
products and processes that reduce or eliminate the use and generation of hazardous
substances. Ionic liquids have emerged as possible substitutes for volatile organic
solvents and have found many applications in a variety of research area since they are
green solvents. Anilium based ionic liquids are prepared and their characteristics like
solubility, conductivity and interactions with other substances are measured and used in
certain organic synthesis giving higher yield than other traditional solvents.
