The article analyzes the problem of organizing the international relations in a multicultural society. The author analyses in a critical manner the Western models of social and cultural assimilation and «multiculturalism» as well as justifies special Russian model of multicultural integration. Special attention is paid to the peculiarities and main trends of Islam in the North Caucasus in the context of its role in the implementation of the specific model of multiculturalism. The author concludes that the model of multicultural integration can be successfully implemented in the North Caucasus only supported by traditional Islam.
