The paper presents the description of the competence approach as the key paradigm of the professional training
modern improvement. On the basis of the historical and pedagogical analysis the stages of its integration into
the educational space are highlighted. In the context of the general characteristics the potential of the
competence-based approach as the backbone factor for the motivational and cognitive and behavioral
components of the personal structure, as well as the formation of personal professional significant qualities,
